Lavender
Many know lavender oil for its naturally soothing scent along with its many other uses relating to stress relief. Low and behold, it can also be paired with your favorite carrier oil (such as Coconut or Haitian Black Castor Oil) for dandruff relief.
Peppermint
Besides its minty clean scent, Peppermint oil is also a great addition to your favorite carrier oil as it helps with follicle stimulation as well as providing relief for symptoms of a dry scalp. Did I mention it also makes your hair feel and smell minty clean?
Haitian or Jamaican Black Castor Oil
Black Castor Oil is highly considered over other carrier oils (next to Avocado oil) for its promotion of unbelievable hair growth and moisture retention. Although some don’t prefer to use BCO for its nutty aroma it can easily be masked by mixing it with just a few drops of good smelling oils like Peppermint, Ylang Ylang, or Lavender (with good proportion). Whether you choose to purchase Haitian or Jamaican derived Black Castor Oil is up to personal preference. However, it is important to purchase authentic Black Castor Oil for optimal results.
Carrot Seed Oil
We’ve all heard of the many potential benefits carrots provide when ingested due to their high Vitamin A content, fiber and other nutrients our body needs. These benefits also apply when applying the seed-derived oil topically to the hair and scalp. When applied to the scalp, this oil’s uniquely high amounts of beta-carotene and biotin work to help combat thinning around the edges as well as premature greying of the hair. Work a small amount of carrot seed oil throughout the hair for a natural SPF to protect against heat damage as well as reduce humidity-induced frizz.
Rose Oil
Rose oil is another holy grail oil that’s great for promoting healthy skin and hair! Its natural production of antioxidant farnesol helps to regulate an oily scalp while providing moisture retention. Its antimicrobial properties also help to soothe inflammation due to a dry scalp. If tea tree oil is too harsh, consider rose oil as a gentler alternative for the same benefits.
